Dicom Systems introduces DICOM Guard

Dicom Systems is touting DICOM Guard, a new security component for its DICOM and HL7 interface engine suite of products.

The new product uses the company's proprietary tagging technology, which deidentifies data by removing all real patient identifiers.

When a medical facility retrieves the data from the company's vendor-neutral archive, the DCMSYS router reidentifies the data, using DICOM Supplement 142 and the company's tagging technology. No real data are stored on any of the devices because deidentification and reidentification occur at each transfer, using a secure key unique to each client to encrypt and decrypt the data, the company said.

DICOM Guard is currently in beta testing and will be released for sale later this year, according to the firm.
