FDA clears Avatar Medical's surgical planning software

Medtech startup Avatar Medical has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its virtual-reality (VR) surgical planning software.

The software creates patient avatars instantly from CT scan or MRI images based on proprietary software. It is used for preoperative planning and for display during surgical procedures, according to the vendor.
