UCSD is 1st to get Canon's AI-based MRI

University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Health is the first facility in the U.S. to install a 3-tesla MRI system from Canon Medical Systems USA that includes artificial intelligence-(AI) based reconstruction.

Canon's Vantage Galan 3T system with advanced intelligent clear-IQ engine (AiCE) deep learning reconstruction provides imaging capabilities for neurology, musculoskeletal, and noncontrast MRA exams, according to the company.

In other news, the first Cartesion Prime PET/CT scanner has gone into clinical operation at Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging in Henderson, NV. Cartesion Prime was launched at RSNA 2019 as a fully digital PET/CT scanner. Steinberg Diagnostics Medical Imaging was the first installation of the system in the U.S.
