Canon Medical Systems USA has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE), an algorithm for reconstruction of MRI exams.

AiCE expands Canon's deep-learning reconstruction technology to the 1.5-tesla MRI segment by making it available on the Vantage Orian scanner. AiCE uses a deep-learning algorithm that suppresses noise while enhancing the true signal, improving the clarity and resolution of images, according to the firm.

The technology is already available on the Vantage Galan 3-tesla MRI scanner and many of Canon's CT products.
