IMRIS signs Memorial Sloan Kettering

Image-guided therapy developer IMRIS, Deerfield Imaging announced it has signed a deal to design and build a new IMRIS surgical theater at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Memorial Sloan Kettering is planning to upgrade its existing intraoperative MRI suite with construction slated to begin in February 2019 and completion in July 2020.

The new surgical theater will have a two-room configuration: an operating room and an adjacent room to house the new MRI scanner. The scanner will travel between the two rooms on a ceiling-mounted rail system. IMRIS software engineers developed a software program to accommodate rotation of the MRI scanner. Upon command, the scanner will rotate into linear position, and then move into the operating room to scan patients during surgery.
