Siemens Healthineers plans to unveil a radiation therapy (RT) version of its Magnetom Sola MRI scanner at the upcoming American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in San Antonio.

Magnetom RT Pro edition for Magnetom Sola is a 1.5-tesla scanner that includes Siemens' RT Dot tool, which helps clinicians select radiation therapy protocols, correct for image distortion, and reconstruct axial images. It also includes the company's RT Image Suite, which allows users to create synthetic CT images from MRI data, and the company's Resolve software, which mitigates distortions that can arise from MR diffusion imaging, Siemens said.

The company will also highlight a version of its new PET/CT scanner for radiation therapy, RT Pro for Biograph Vision. This system offers a new detector, a 78-cm bore to accommodate stereotactic and RT positioning tools, PET/CT respiratory gating, temporal maximum intensity projection, and the company's iterative metal artifact reduction (iMAR) algorithm for CT metal artifact reduction.
