PETNet teams with UC Davis, NCPIC

Siemens Healthcare subsidiary PETNet Solutions has formed a partnership with the University of California (UC) Davis Health System and Northern California PET Imaging Center (NCPIC).

The partnership will establish a 12,000-sq-ft facility on the university's Sacramento campus for research and training in radiochemistry and for the commercial production of PET radiopharmaceutical products.

PETNet said it will set up manufacturing and distribution of PET radiopharmaceuticals in part of the space, while NCPIC plans to create a scale-up laboratory for biomarker production. For its part, UC Davis will establish laboratories for research scientists and trainees, according to the organizations.

The multimillion-dollar project will also include the installation of two medical cyclotrons for PET radioisotope production.
