Gamma Medica files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Gamma Medica voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on August 20 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of California in Woodland Hills.

The company must now submit a list of debtors and equity holders to the court by September 4.

Just last month, Gamma Medica's preclinical imaging division released a new high-resolution microCT (HRCT) module for its Triumph II small animal PET/SPECT/CT imaging system.

In April, the Journal of Nuclear Medicine published a study by researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, that found that Gamma Medica's molecular breast imaging (MBI) technology can detect invasive carcinomas and help evaluate the extent of disease and presence of multifocal disease for surgical treatment planning.

Gamma Medica's LumaGem MBI system features dual-head cadmium zinc telluride digital detectors mounted on a modified mammography gantry.
