Toshiba America Medical Systems is introducing its new redesigned Aquilion Large Bore CT system at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting in Atlanta, being held September 22 to 25.
The system has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is available in two configurations, one tailored toward radiology and bariatric imaging and the other for oncology planning. The product represents a complete redesign of the previous Aquilion Large Bore CT, according to the company.
The new scanner has a bore size of 90 cm, a 70-cm field-of-view, an optional 85-cm extended field-of-view, and an optional high-capacity couch (660 lb). It has 16 detector rows capable of reconstructing 32 slices per rotation, and it also includes Toshiba's adaptive iterative dose reduction (AIDR) 3D, which lowers radiation dose compared with conventional scanning.
