Riverain scores patent for chest CT technology

Advanced visualization firm Riverain Technologies has been awarded a patent for a software process that features deep learning and synthetic data modeling.

The patent covers the company's ClearRead CT software, which is designed to enhance the computer-aided detection (CAD) and diagnosis of lung cancer at an earlier stage by selectively removing anatomical structures from CT scans to optimize reading accuracy.

The software may be applicable for other clinical uses within modalities such as MRI, PET, full-field digital mammography, and tomosynthesis, where normal structures interfere with the detection and diagnosis of disease, according to Riverain.
