Enlitic inks deal to bring deep learning to China

Deep-learning start-up Enlitic has signed an agreement with Chinese medical data analysis and storage firm Paiyipai to implement its deep-learning technology for diagnostic imaging in China.

Enlitic's software will be used in private "health check" centers across the country, according to the memorandum of understanding. The deal was executed following a successful clinical trial involving 10,000 chest x-rays that were analyzed by Enlitic's patient triage platform, and it serves as the basis of collaboration for the first-large scale commercial deployment of Enlitic's deep-learning technology, according to the vendor.

Thanks to an expansion of private healthcare services in China, approximately 300 million people are now using health-check services in a growing market worth an estimated $11.6 billion per year, according to Enlitic. Most of these patients receive annual chest x-rays and basic checkup services; genetic testing as well as MRI and CT studies are also available, the company said.
