Japanese researchers will share their work aimed at improving the computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) of pulmonary emphysema on CT.

Taking advantage of the different types of texture patterns of emphysema and normal tissues, a team led by Min Zhang, PhD, from Gifu University, will detail the CADx performance gains possible from the use of texton learning-based texture classification methods.

The group's approach yielded strong results in a preliminary study with 18 images. For more details, visit the poster at the Lakeside Learning Center.
