Siemens Healthineers has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its GoKnee3D MRI software application.

Designed to reduce the time required to perform comprehensive diagnostic knee MRI exams, GoKnee3D enables a push-button diagnostic 3D MRI study to be completed in just 10 minutes, according to the vendor. The volume acquisition of high-resolution isotopic 3D images enables images to be evaluated in all planes -- including double oblique and curved planar, Siemens said.

The application is supported by the vendor's dedicated, high-channel Tim 4G knee coils, as well as automated field-of-view adaptation based on machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques. GoKnee3D is currently available for the vendor's Magnetom Aera 1.5T and Magnetom Skyra 3T scanners, and Siemens said it will also eventually be rolled out on additional scanners in its MRI product line.
