GE Healthcare has signed a 10-year imaging technology supply agreement worth $224 million with NYC Health + Hospitals in New York City.

Within the first four years of the deal, 230 of the health system's 470 existing imaging systems will be updated, including MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, x-ray, catheterization labs, PET, PET/CT, and fluoroscopy systems, according to GE. The city's public health system aims to standardize and modernize its imaging equipment, as well as update and streamline its imaging capital equipment planning and replacement process, GE said.

So far, $20 million has already been allocated for NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, which is undergoing renovations as part of its Hurricane Sandy recovery project. The hospital will now receive 47 new imaging systems, including 19 x-ray machines, 12 ultrasound units, and an MRI scanner, GE said.
