International radiology day set for Nov. 8

The second annual International Day of Radiology (IDoR) will take place this Friday, November 8.

The American College of Radiology (ACR), RSNA, and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) will join more than 100 medical societies in 57 countries to commemorate the day.

IDoR 2013 will focus on the role lung imaging plays in the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases, reinforcing the recent rise to prominence of CT lung cancer screening. RSNA and ACR have stated their support of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force's draft recommendation for CT lung cancer screening of high-risk individuals. ACR is currently working on CT lung cancer screening guidelines and standards.

IDoR 2013 also marks the 118th anniversary of the discovery of the x-ray. For additional information, visit IDoR2013.com.
