Radiology team returns to Haiti

A team of expert radiologists, ultrasonographers, and radiologic technologists is journeying to Haiti next month to provide a series of didactic and medical imaging training sessions at Grace Children's Hospital in Port-au-Prince.

Called Radiology Education Days, the sessions are expected to draw up to 70 healthcare professionals from across Haiti on June 4-5 and are part of the American College of Radiology's (ACR) response to the 2010 earthquake, ACR said. The expert team includes representatives from the ACR, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS).

The ongoing ACR effort in Haiti is made possible in part by the Haiti Radiology Relief Fund, which was facilitated by the ACR Foundation International Outreach Program, according to ACR. That program provides healthcare facilities in Haiti and around the world with radiological support, including equipment supplies, education materials, and radiologist, medical physicist, and radiologic technologist volunteers.
