MedCurrent to update OrderRight at RSNA

Clinical decision support software developer MedCurrent of Los Angeles plans to launch a new version of its decision-support software, OrderRight 2.0, at the RSNA meeting in Chicago later this month.

OrderRight provides an appropriateness score of 1-9 for radiology orders from referring physicians, with scores based on appropriateness criteria from the American College of Radiology (ACR) of Reston, VA. The new version of the software goes beyond scoring the appropriateness of orders to provide suggestions for other, more appropriate imaging procedures that could be considered as alternatives.

Physicians are also given explanations beyond just the appropriateness score, links to reference text in the medical literature that supports these options, and metrics for patient radiation dosage.

MedCurrent will also highlight Rule Authoring Studio, which provides administrative tools that allow users to modify and customize appropriateness rules to meet their local standards of practice. New rules and criteria can be created and clinically tested for consideration to be added into the system's rule set.
