AECL produces first Mo-99 batch

Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) has taken the first batch of molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) from the National Research Universal (NRU) nuclear reactor.

The Chalk River, Ontario, facility resumed service earlier this week after being offline since May 2009, when a major water leak was discovered.

NRU produces approximately half of the Mo-99 supply for North America.
