Philips Healthcare is showcasing a number of new enhancements to its nuclear medicine portfolio at this week's annual SNM meeting in Salt Lake City.
The Andover, MA-based vendor's BrightView XCT SPECT/CT unit has been outfitted with its full iterative technology (FIT), which provides both iterative SPECT and CT reconstruction capabilities. Philips believes the CT reconstruction technique improves localization through better uniformity and less noise, yielding improvements in soft-tissue image quality.
The combination of FIT with the system's Astonish reconstruction algorithm enables lower patient x-ray dose levels, high-resolution localization, and higher-quality attenuation correction, Philips said.
In other SNM developments, Philips will highlight its concurrent imaging capability for its SPECT systems, and the company will also provide updates on clinical studies using the firm's investigational whole-body PET/MR imaging systems. The studies, being performed by the University of Geneva in Switzerland and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, cover both oncological and cardiovascular applications and are designed to take advantage of the soft-tissue contrast capabilities of MRI, Philips said.
