AIUM gets MSK guideline support

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) has collaborated with four other professional societies to endorse its recent AIUM Training Guidelines for the Performance of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Examinations.

The guidelines are designed for practitioners such as physicians, osteopathic physicians, podiatrists, and sonographers who perform musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations.

The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Society have provided their respective endorsements for the guidelines.

The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) also has approved the development of a credentialing examination in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
