Varian scores x-ray shielding patent

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has received a U.S. patent for internal shielding in x-ray tubes.

The patent, No. 7661445, covers the use of tungsten shielding inside an x-ray tube, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based firm. It's the 100th x-ray tube patent Varian has received from the U.S. Patent Office.
