Fuji's AcSelerate suite features flat-panel DR detectors.
The company will emphasize FDR AcSelerate, an automated table and upright system based on flat-panel digital detectors. Fuji introduced the system at last year's RSNA meeting, and the company will demonstrate the product at this year's show as a work-in-progress pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance.

Also look for Fuji to launch an additional DR system at the RSNA conference. The company is keeping details of the system under wraps until the show.

In the company's core computed radiography (CR) business, look for Fuji to showcase its FCR Go portable CR unit. Fuji reports shipping 300 of the systems globally in its first year of availability, and in its RSNA booth the company will demonstrate the unit with colorful, child-friendly designs for pediatric facilities.

Also new in CR at the RSNA show will be newly remodeled multiplate cassette readers that feature wider viewing angles on the LCD, accentuated drive shelves, and a reduction in the total overall weight of the systems.

Fuji also participates in the PACS software market, and look for the company to demonstrate version 4.04 of its Synapse CardioVascular software for the first time. The new version features additional integration with third-party applications that enable clinicians to access patient data stored in other locations. Synapse CardioVascular users now have access to ViTALConnect from Vital Images of Minnetonka, MN, for advanced 3D/4D analysis, and MUSE Web from GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., for access to electrocardiograms.

Synapse CardioVascular also features integration with GE's EchoPAC software, along with QAngio XA from Medis Medical Imaging Systems from Leiden, Netherlands, for the analysis of left ventricle and coronary vessels in angiograms. Other software enhancements include a new graphical user interface (GUI) toolbar that provides a similar look and feel to Fuji's Synapse PACS and Synapse RIS offerings.

Aspire-HD demonstrates Fuji's recent push into breast imaging.
In women's imaging, look for Fuji to make its RSNA debut of Aspire-HD, a full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system based on an amorphous selenium flat-panel detector. Fuji's detector technology is based on direct optical switching (DOS), which results in a pixel size of 50 microns on a 24 x 30-cm detector plate, producing high spatial resolution and low noise, according to the company.

Fuji will also highlight Aspire-HD's bucky design, which the company believes addresses patient comfort while ensuring maximum access to the chest wall. Aspire-HD will also be available with a color workstation called AWS-d.

While Aspire-HD is shipping internationally, the system and the AWS-d workstation have not yet received FDA approval.

In CR-based mammography, Fuji will launch the second generation of its Aspire ClearView technology. The new version will continue to offer 50-micron resolution and dual-side detector reading, with enhancements including a sleeker look, lighter weight, and wider viewing angle on the LCD.

Fuji will also highlight a new color mammography workstation, AWS-c. The workstation and the second-generation version of ClearView require FDA approval and are not yet for sale in the U.S.
