2007 10 22 14 15 14 706(Booth 1729) Look for this Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., multimodality vendor to emphasize its CAD work in two areas in its Volume Computer-Assisted Reading (VCAR) program: oncology PET studies and multislice CT chest exams.

PET VCAR is designed for helping clinicians diagnose, stage, and treat lesions by identifying and tracking areas of metabolic activity on PET/CT scans, and the software also includes registration features for comparing tumor response over time. PET VCAR received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March 2007.

Lung VCAR applies the computer-assisted reading concept to multislice CT lung scans, with the goal of finding, isolating, and measuring lung nodules over time. The software helps radiologists find lung nodules, then isolates and compares measurements to previous results to determine if nodules are growing. VCAR has FDA clearance, and GE is shipping the software.
