Gamma Medica-Ideas to acquire AMI

Gamma camera developer Gamma Medica-Ideas (GM-I) of Northridge, CA, has reached an agreement to acquire Sherbrooke, Canada-based Advanced Molecular Imaging (AMI), a provider of a digital APD PET product for preclinical imaging.

The merger will create a company that can offer a full range of digital imaging products, including APD PET and GM-I's recently launched CZT SPECT detector technologies, as well as multiple modality systems for drug discovery and medical research, according to GM-I.

GM-I will continue AMI's partnership with the Université de Sherbrooke, and have offices in Los Angeles, Sherbrooke, and Oslo, Norway. The company will continue to offer its FLEX Triumph Platform supporting X-PET, X-SPECT (NaI or CZT), and X-O (CT) preclinical imaging systems. Upon completion of the merger, GM-I will also offer LabPET APD PET (formerly an AMI product) as a standalone product or in combination with GM-I's other systems.
