Vidar Systems of Herndon, VA, traditionally has been known for its line of film digitizers, but in 2005 the company entered the market for digital radiography with its line of Vision systems.

At this year's RSNA show, Vidar will debut the Vision 3000 offering, designed to compete in price with computed radiography systems. Its target market niche includes imaging centers, orthopedic practices, small hospitals, and hospital outpatient areas.

Vision 3000 has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance and is available in the U.S. It is being phased in worldwide throughout 2007.

Vidar introduced the Vision 4000 DR system earlier in 2006 as a higher-end system for small- to medium-sized hospitals. It, too, has FDA clearance.
