Medison

Korean ultrasound vendor Medison will unveil a new ultrasound system as a work-in-progress at RSNA 2006, targeting the device for hospitals, imaging centers, and private physician offices. Medison plans commercial availability for early 2007.

The scanner features the Seoul-based company's "smart software," which allows users to modify system controls with new software protocols. The combination of the software with advanced digital signal processing delivers enhanced image quality for improved diagnostic outcomes and patient throughput, according to the company.

The scanner also offers high-resolution 3D imaging, live 3D, 3DXI, full-spectrum imaging, dynamic MR, and spatial compound imaging for abdominal, ob/gyn, small parts, vascular, and cardiac applications.

The system also includes a high-resolution 17-inch LCD monitor with articulated arm for optimal ergonomic viewing during an ultrasound exam. It is expected that the system will receive U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance in early 2007.
