HealthTronics taps new president and CEO

Healthcare firm HealthTronics of Austin, TX, has named a new president and CEO, and has announced that it may be selling its AK Specialty Vehicles mobile coach division.

The firm named John Barnidge, previously senior vice president and CFO, to the top post. He replaces Brad Hummel, who left the company in October.

In other management moves, James Whittenburg has been appointed division president of AK Specialty Vehicles after previously serving as general counsel and senior vice president of development. Christopher Schneider, president of HealthTronics' device sales and services, has added the additional role of COO for the company's urology division to his portfolio.

HealthTronics also said it is evaluating an outside offer to purchase AK Specialty Vehicles. The firm is also looking at additional investment opportunities in the healthcare sector.
