Philips, RaySearch expand partnership

Philips Medical Systems and radiation therapy firm RaySearch Laboratories are entering the next phase of a co-development relationship for the creation of inverse treatment planning systems for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).

The firms will now focus on developing systems that allow for the active management of a patient’s course of treatment, leveraging Philips imaging, simulation, information management, and treatment-management capabilities, according to Philips of Best, the Netherlands, and RaySearch of Stockholm, Sweden.

Philips and RaySearch have partnered since 2000, a collaboration that yielded the P3 IMRT treatment-planning system in 2001.
