Rotem expands capacity, plans EU and U.S. subsidiaries

Isotope manufacturer Rotem Industries of Beer Sheva, Israel will be stepping up production of Hyox 18, its brand of oxygen-18 enriched water used in PET imaging. The manufacture of the isotope, a critical precursor for the production of FDG, will now exceed 10 kgs (22 lbs.) per month, according to the firm. Rotem is continuing with a further expansion phase, which will yield 20 kgs (44 lbs) per month by 2005.

The company is also establishing two wholly owned subsidiaries to assume regional marketing, sales, and distribution functions. The U.S. subsidiary will be based in Port Chester, NY, and will begin serving the North American market in January 2003. Later in the year, a European company will begin operation from Leipzig, Germany, to cover most of the EU as well as Eastern Europe.
