Healthcare information systems provider Cerner of Kansas City, MO, has completed its acquisition of ADAC Laboratories’ Health Care Information Systems business. Cerner purchased Houston-based ADAC HCIS for approximately $6 million in cash. Cerner expects that the acquisition will not dilute earnings in 2001, and will contribute positively to earnings by 2002.
While the functionality of ADAC’s QuadRIS offering and Cerner’s RadNet RIS will merge over time, Cerner will provide a technology and financial upgrade path for the products, according to Cerner chairman and CEO Neal Patterson. Cerner also plans to integrate PACS technology from ADAC’s Envoi suite of image management products into its HNA Millennium platform, Patterson said.
