ALI inks deal with SonoSite

Digital image management firm ALI Technologies is joining forces with handheld ultrasound developer SonoSite.

The two firms have signed a non-exclusive agreement in which SonoSite customers can utilize ALI's PACS products with SonoSite's ultrasound devices. ALI has teamed with SonoSite of Bothell, WA, to interface SonoSite's products to network film printers or filmless image management systems.

In other ALI news, the Richmond, BC-based firm has released version 4.2 of its UltraPACS software. The new release adds features such as an Oracle8i database, advanced search capability, annotation, and cine tools. The addition of the Oracle8i database adds data redundancy to meet the needs of large multisite PACS implementations, according to the firm.

Database search tools have been enhanced, allowing physicians to search for studies via traditional criteria such as patient name, ID, and date, or use advanced search filters to locate studies. Customized queries or default templates with preselected filters can also be used.

The software's cine capability has been refined to increase performance and give users added control over display and playback. Cine clips can now be exported in a variety of formats, such as AVI or Apple Quick Time. UltraPACS 4.2 is shipping, and is already deployed in clinical operation at nine sites, according to ALI.
