Telix makes two new executive appointments

Telix Pharmaceuticals has made two new executive appointments.

The company has tapped Richard Valeix to a new position as group chief commercial officer. Since he joined the firm in May 2021, Valieix has served as its chief executive officer of the company's Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) operations. In his new role, he will oversee the commercialization of Telix's prostate-specific membrane antigen PET radiopharmaceutical Illuccix and the launch of TLX250-CDx, Telix's kidney cancer imaging agent.

As well, Telix has promoted Raphael Ortiz to the role of chief executive officer of EMEA. Ortiz has held the position of chief operating officer since he joined the company in January of this year.

PET/CT scans ‘crucial’ in patients with NK/T-cell lymphoma

PET/CT has significant advantages over conventional methods for lesion detection and staging in patients with natural killer/T-cell lymphoma.

A 50-year-old man with recently diagnosed nasal-type NK/T-cell lymphoma underwent an F-18 FDG-PET/CT scan (A–D) for initial staging. Maximum-intensity-projection image (A) shows hypermetabolic lesions in both ethmoid sinus (thin arrow), both cervical lymphatic chains (arrowhead), left upper lung (thick arrow), liver, and spleen. Transaxial images show an F-18 FDG-avid mass in both ethmoid sinus (B). The scan shows intense F-18 FDG radiotracer uptake in left upper lung and uptake in the liver and spleen (CT showed no lesions), suggesting malignancy (C–D). Finally, after the PET/CT scan was done, the patient’s staging was changed from II to IV.

FES-PET better than FDG-PET in breast cancer patients

In a head-to-head comparison, F-18 fluoroestradiol (FES)-PET/CT was better than standard FDG-PET/CT for the initial staging of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer patients.
