ACR updates appropriateness criteria

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has updated its ACR Appropriateness Criteria guidelines, which include 216 diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology topics.

The update features five new and eight revised topics.

The criteria "serve a vital role in helping to ensure that patients receive the necessary, quality care that they expect from their healthcare providers," said Dr. Mark Lockhart, chair of the ACR Committee on Appropriateness Criteria, in a statement released by the college.
