The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is going to begin collecting user fees online for annual inspections conducted under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).

The new billing process, which went into effect on April 22, allows online payments. However, only full payments will be accepted online. The FDA's preferred payment method is online using an electronic check or automated clearing house. Credit card payments are accepted for amounts less than $25,000.

For more details related to where to make online payments, alternative methods of payment, governmental entity status, and nonpayment of the inspection fee, facilities should check their MQSA facility invoice.

MQSA inspectors will collect and confirm each facility's billing contact email address during its next annual inspection. Facilities with questions regarding facility invoice payments must contact the FDA.

All MQSA inspection-related questions can still be directed to the MQSA Facility Hotline at 1-800-838-7715.
