Canon expands MRI use of deep-learning reconstruction

Canon Medical Systems USA has announced it is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI)-based data reconstruction technology to body applications on its Vantage Galan 3-tesla MRI scanner.

The company's Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) deep-learning reconstruction protocol can now be used for 96% of all procedures using on the Vantage Galan 3-tesla MRI scanner, the company reported.

AiCE is designed to reduce noise and boost image quality, performance, and productivity, and previously had been cleared by the U.S Food and Drug Administration for brain and knee indications. Canon now has clearance to market AiCE for clinical indications from prostate to shoulders, including all joints, cardiac, pelvis, abdomen, and spine.
