Web-based education can tighten the gaps in breast density knowledge among women's health providers, according to a study supported by DenseBreast-Info.org and published April 28 in Menopause.

Educating providers may lead to more informed and effective communications between patient and healthcare professionals about breast density, the authors wrote.

Approximately 180 women's healthcare providers in the U.S. participated in the study from May 2019 to September 2019. The effects of educational intervention were measured using content from DenseBreast-Info.org.

Average test scores increased from 41%, or about six out of 14 correct responses during the pretest, compared with 72%, or about 10 out of 14 correct responses during the post-test. After intervention, all knowledge gaps were resolved or reduced and comfort in discussing breast density implications increased, according to the study.
