A New Jersey radiology firm is suing healthcare insurer Cigna Health, claiming that Cigna wrongfully denied reimbursement for nearly $400,000 in services the center provided to patients with COVID-19 over the past five months.

Open MRI and Imaging of RP Vestibular Diagnostics PA said in its federal lawsuit that Cigna's coverage denial violated the insurance coverage provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act. As a result of the denials, Cigna was unjustly enriched, according to Open MRI.

Cigna denied that the services were billed, that the services matched what was billed, and/or that the billing was duplicative, according to the complaint.

Open MRI seeks reimbursement as well as attorney fees and costs.
