Cloud-based communication firm PerfectServe has integrated its clinical communication platform with Nuance Communications' PowerScribe radiology reporting software at a customer site in Tennessee.

Through the partnership, clinicians can utilize PerfectServe's smart-routing capabilities with PowerScribe's reporting and communication functionality. The streamlined interface enables automated, timely, and reliable messaging about radiology results, according to the companies.

The integration uses an easy-to-follow sequential workflow:

  1. A radiologist sends a message with patient results through the PowerConnect Actionable Findings solution in PowerScribe.
  2. PowerScribe transmits the message to PerfectServe, which uses intelligent routing to deliver it to the right provider.
  3. The ordering provider receives a push notification to their device of choice, then uses the PerfectServe application to review and acknowledge the message.
  4. PerfectServe sends the provider acknowledgement back to the PowerConnect Actionable Findings solution, letting the radiologist and radiology department know the provider has viewed the message for tracking and documentation purposes.

The bidirectional setup streamlines workflows and automatically times message delivery with provider schedules. It also features a compliance period for provider acknowledgement, helping to support closed-loop reporting requirements.

The collaboration launched in June at the Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. The hospital conducts 140,000 imaging studies per year and uses PerfectServe for critical, urgent, and incidental message levels, the companies noted.
