Echocardiography image analysis software developer DiA Imaging Analysis has received a grant from the government of Israel to develop artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to analyze ultrasound images of patients with COVID-19.

DiA received the grant from the Israel Innovation Authority; the funds will allow the company to accelerate R&D with a focus on new AI uses for the management of patients with COVID-19. Many clinicians have turned to ultrasound as a low-cost tool that can be used to manage patients with COVID-19 at the bedside.

DiA's flagship application is LVivo Cardio Toolbox for AI-based cardiac ultrasound analysis. The company cited recent data that underscores the importance of examining the hearts of patients with COVID-19, with one study indicating that 20% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 show signs of heart damage.
