The Society for Breast Imaging (SBI) has canceled its annual meeting scheduled for April in Denver due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"Protecting the health and well-being of all attendees is our greatest concern," wrote SBI President Dr. Margarita Zuley of the University of Pittsburgh and board colleagues. "Canceling the symposium required much discussion and deep consideration. It was a decision we came to reluctantly. The time, commitment, and resources that have gone into many months of planning and preparation for faculty, staff, and attendees weighed heavily on our minds. So, as stewards of the society, we wanted to make sure we took the proper steps to minimize any potential risks for exposure to our members, faculty, staff, and attendees to mitigate the impact on our society."

The society plans to issue full refunds to registered attendees over the coming weeks, it said.
