Carestream Health is showing new products, including the DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray system, and enhancements at RSNA 2019 in Chicago.

The system has a lighter, balanced tube head and collimator, responsive multitouch display screens, in-bin detector charging, and quieter brakes and drive motors to reduce noise during operation, according to the company.

Carestream is also featuring its Focus 35C detector and Image Suite software that offers a budget-friendly way to image digitally. The retrofit system is powered by Carestream's Eclipse image-processing software and combines advanced image processing with broad functionality -- transforming an analog x-ray room into a full wireless digital radiography (DR) system. Carestream expects to release the system later this year.

Also at RSNA 2019, Carestream unveiled a 3D extension of general radiography through digital tomosynthesis functionality, which is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance. The functionality is an upgradable option on the DRX-Evolution Plus system and will roll out along with the firm's dual-energy technology.

Dual energy uses two filter materials that enable automatic switching between the high- and low-energy exposures to produce an image with only soft tissue and the bone structures removed, as well as a corresponding bone-only image. Carestream will release both the tomosynthesis functionality and dual energy early next year.
