Siemens Healthineers plans to debut two new CT scanners optimized for radiation therapy planning at next week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting in Chicago.
The 64-slice Somatom go.Sim and 128-slice Somatom go.Open Pro both have an 85-cm bore and offer DirectLasers, which are patient marking lasers mounted directly onto the gantry and controlled via a mobile tablet, the company said. The scanners also feature Siemens' DirectOrgans protocol for contouring organs at risk: The software uses image reconstruction to optimize CT images for autocontouring and to apply a deep learning-trained contouring algorithm, according to the firm.
Somatom go.Open Pro also has the company's Direct Intelligent 4D technology, which adjusts image acquisition to a patient's breathing in real-time during the scan, Siemens said.
Both systems are pending clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
