Sun Microsystems founder and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla said Wednesday that artificial intelligence (AI) will advance so far that "any radiologist who continues to practice in 10 years will be killing patients every day," according to an article on TechCrunch.

Speaking during a keynote talk at Creative Destruction Lab's Super Session in Toronto, Khosla said that "radiologists are toast" and that being a radiologist "shouldn't be a job," TechCrunch reported. Within a decade, AI-based diagnostic technology will progress to the point that radiologists will "be causing deaths because [they] choose to practice," he said.

This isn't the first time Khosla has predicted the demise of radiologists. In a 2017 podcast, Khosla said that AI would render radiologists obsolete within five years.

Khosla is the founder of Khosla Ventures, which was an early investor in Israeli AI software developer Zebra Medical Vision.
