RaySearch adds machine-learning feature to RayStation

Radiation therapy software developer RaySearch Laboratories has released the latest iteration of its RayStation treatment planning system, which now offers machine-learning and deep-learning applications.

The integration of machine-learning and deep-learning algorithms into RayStation 8B allows for automated cancer treatment planning and automated organ segmentation, according to the company. RaySearch can provide pretrained models, though clinicians at each clinic can also train the algorithms on available data.

RayStation 8B comes with several additional new features, including the following:

  • A robust evaluation module, which takes into account the uncertainty associated with patient setup and density interpretation on CT when evaluating treatment plans
  • A Monte Carlo dose algorithm for rapid and accurate dose computation
  • Boron neutron capture therapy planning for targeting cancer at the cellular level

These latest features were developed in collaboration with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.
