MRI leak causes concern at NYC airport

A leak from a damaged MRI scanner prompted a call to hazardous-material personnel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City this past weekend.

The device began emitting hazardous gases while it sat in a cargo building, according to a February 12 report by CBS New York.

It was not immediately known what kind of gases escaped the scanner, but no one was injured in the mishap. Authorities are investigating how the scanner was damaged, according to the report.
