UCSF embarks on upgrade to radiology facilities

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is starting a major upgrade of its main radiology department.

UCSF is launching the largest expansion in the radiology department's history at the university's main campus on Parnassus Street in San Francisco. Called the Holding Room Expansion, the project will enhance the environment for radiology patients, providing more space for patient holding and changing, as well as for patient and family waiting. It will also improve sight lines and lighting, giving a more welcome feeling to patients, visitors, and staff.

The expansion also includes a third interventional radiology room and new equipment that represents a significant improvement over existing imaging capabilities, according to the department. Construction is set to begin in July and will span the next two years.
