3DISC debuts CR readers, software update

Digital imaging manufacturer 3DISC Imaging is introducing new computed radiography (CR) readers and workstation software at the 2012 RSNA meeting.

FireCR+M readers add more capabilities for medical and veterinary applications to 3DISC tabletop computed radiography readers, according to the vendor. They support a full range of CR cassette sizes from 10 x 27 cm to 14 x 17 inches and can scan up to 70 plates per hour.

Digital images can be enhanced, enlarged, duplicated, and transmitted to any equipped location in seconds via DICOM connection without losing resolution, 3DISC said.

New 3DISC software aims to increase user control for cropping, etching, and modifying brightness and contrast. The company said that an updated color scheme with dark background maximizes contrast and reduces eye fatigue, while reconfigured controls are designed for intuitive operation.

The manufacturer expects to begin shipping the new readers and software in the first quarter of 2013.
