MedQuist Q2 revenue dips

Speech recognition and transcription technology provider MedQuist of Mount Laurel, NJ, saw a decrease in revenue for its second quarter of 2009.

For the period (end-June 30), revenue was $77.5 million, a 6% decrease compared to $82.5 million in the second quarter of 2008. Revenue for the first six months of 2009 was $156.4 million, down 6% compared to $166.1 million for the same period in 2008. The company had a net income of $7.7 million for the six-month period, compared with a net loss of $2.6 million for the same period the year before.
