Merit launches wire-free breast localization device

By AuntMinnie.com staff writers

December 2, 2022 -- Merit Medical Systems has commercially launched Scout Bx, a wireless, radar-guided localization system used to assist breast surgeons in identifying biopsied tumors for removal.

Scout Bx is the first wireless breast localization device that can be deployed at the time of stereotactic or MRI-guided biopsy, according to the company. Scout Bx is compatible with most stereotactic and MRI-guided breast biopsy devices and enables physicians to localize suspicious lesions at the time of biopsy under these imaging modalities and eliminates the need for an additional procedure for reflector placement prior to surgery, Merit said.
