Reimagine Well and Miami Cancer Institute have collaborated on a virtual reality (VR)-based MRI stillness game that aims to lower patients' anxiety prior to receiving an MRI exam.

Experiential Education allows patients to undergo treatments and procedures virtually in a gamified format that will be like the room where they will be treated, according to the firm. Patients wear VR headsets, which can detect movements, while they lie still and play.

The company said it believes that clinicians will be able to correlate patient scores in the game to the accuracy of the imaging and the duration of the patient exam. As a result, it could become a predictive tool, enabling shortened procedures and greater utilization of MRI suites, Reimagine Well said.
